I mentioned in a previous post that I was 5 years old when I received and learned to ride my first dirt bike.  Parents may wonder about the following questions when deciding if a kid is ready for a dirt bike and how to choose a first dirt bike:

  • How old for first dirt bike?
  • How to choose first dirt bike?

How Old for First Dirt Bike
The answer to this question varies by kid and depends on how well you listen to parents and follow instructions.  My Dad finally felt I was ready to be a good listener to learn.

How To Choose a First Dirt Bike
You want to make sure that feet can touch the ground when sitting on the bike and depending  on a kids age, a 50 CC or a 70 4 stroke.  Since I was five years old, my Dad felt the 50CC was perfect for my size and it didn’t have too much power to overwhelm me when starting to ride.  Once I mastered the 50cc, my Dad moved me up to a 70 4 stroke which is what I ride today.

Bike Models
An important lesson that my Dad learned was to not waste your money on the Chinese model bikes and buy the Japanese models like Honda, Yamaha or Suzuki since they are built with better durability.  My 50cc was the  perfect size for me, but it was made in China and it broke down quickly.  It ended up being a waste of money.  My Dad wishes he would have bought a Japanese brand instead.  We purchase the Honda XR 70 4 stroke from my cousin.  He grew out of this bike, so it was the perfect next step up for me and has been running great with no problems.

Dirt Bike Riding Lesson

I love to ride my dirt bike and wanted to share this beginning Dirt Bike Riding Lesson.  My video will teach the basics of how to learn dirt bike riding and what to wear dirt bike riding for safety.

I have a Honda XR 70 dirt bike that my Dad taught me  how to ride.  I have been riding since I was 5 years old and I started out on a smaller sized 50 dirt bike that ran much slower.  On the weekends my Dad let’s me ride in our backyard or he takes me up to my Grandparents to go riding since they have a lot more room! I’m no expert, but I keep improving the more I practice.  Learning how to kick start the gas was the hardest part to learn.  I think I spent an entire weekend practicing until I mastered the kick start and my foot was sore!

My Mom and I made this video for my 1st grade speech project last year to demonstrate a basic dirt bike riding lesson and important safety tips on what to wear.  DON’T EVER RIDE A DIRT BIKE UNSUPERVISED and WEAR PROTECTIVE GEAR!

I hope you enjoy my video on how to learn dirt bike riding!

Important Safety Tips – What to wear dirt bike riding:

  1. Only ride when supervised by a parent or responsible adult
  2. Wear jeans or riding pants.  They will help protect your legs from the hot engine and from the elements if you fall.
  3. Wear boots to protect your feet, ankles and shins from the hot engine.
  4. Always wear a properly fit riding helmet! (Not a bike helmet – it is not durable enough if you hit your head at higher speeds)

Marshmallow Squisharoos

I wanted to share my first Youtube video that I made when I was 5 years old.  It is a marshmallow treat called Marshmallow Squisharoos.  This snack was so easy to make that my Mom made this video of me demonstrating.  I was even showing off the Spanish words for all the different colors.  I told you I like to talk!

This treat is very tasty, it reminds me of eating a marshmallow peep.  I have to warn you that it did turn my mouth the same color as the marshmallow coating, but I do love all the different bright colors of the marshmallows.  It looks like a rainbow.

Hi I’m Boden!

Boden

Hello my name is Boden and welcome to my website Bobo Bo-Rebo! I have been bugging my Mom for a while now to set up a Youtube channel because I love to talk and share about my toys!  My Mom also thinks it would be a good idea for me to also share about my favorite movies, books, kid friendly foods and kid adventures, so I guess I’ll go along with that too!

I’m 8 years old and I live in the Pacific Northwest of the United States.  I love to play with legos and nerf guns.  My Mom and Dad only let me play on the tablet now on the weekends so I will be more focused on my homework and using my imagination on school days.  Let me tell you, I always look forward to the weekends!  I also love riding my dirt bike and playing outside with my little brother Robby and our dog Sunny.   I love Sunny, she is so sweet and snuggly, but she’s not very good at playing fetch.  Whenever I throw her the ball, she just does not want to bring it back.  Oh well, maybe someday she will.

My favorite foods are cheese pizza, peanut butter & jelly sandwiches,  cheese burgers, hot dogs, popcorn, guacamole dip and pancakes.  I hate to eat tomatoes and spicy food!  My Mom is a good cook, but sometimes she cooks too much fancy adult food and and not enough kid food.  I’m learning to become a pretty good cook too.  I can make sandwiches, popcorn on the stove, cups of coffee for my parents and  hot chocolate for my brother and I.  I’m also learning how to make macaroni and cheese because that’s my brother Robby’s favorite meal.

I hope you come back to visit my page often!
